Meditation timer
« on: January 15, 2013, 12:35:42 AM »
As a beginner, I would often get distracted while meditating because I would wonder what time had passed (or if would be over soon!). I found this free online and downloadable meditation timer : www.yourmeditationtimer.com You can choose the sound, delay, sit time, etc. It is helpful to me because now I have no excuse to look at the clock or finish the meditation ahead of time and do something else. And because I'm less distracted by the time, my meditations seem deeper.

Hello violet, and welcome to the Fruit of the Contemplative Life.  Thank-you so much for posting your link to a meditation timer.  When I once needed to be somewhere at a certain time, then I found keeping track of the time a serious distraction to deep meditation, so at that time I came up with an unobtrusive timer that would gently bring me back when it was time for me to get ready to go.  This meant I could meditate with the kind of abandon that one who wishes to meditate deeply needs to do.
