Interactions with students
« on: May 25, 2023, 08:31:01 AM »
Hello everyone.  Over the last two months I have been noticing more and more students contacting me for meditation instruction.  I have had around fifteen people suddenly contact me on social media and via email.  My meditation time has been slightly reduced by interacting with new students.  I suppose it is the will of Goddess Kali because I do not know why these people are contacting me.  I made just a few casual posts about my meditation online.  Maybe this also happens to you guys?

Anyways, What is the right, or dharmic way of interacting with students, what ratio of time should be spent on students, should anything be requested of students in traditional literature?  Interested in different perspectives.  While I am not looking for money specifically it would be good to achieve a basic subsistence of a few hundred monthly to pay expenses if it is dharmic.

The work Jeff does (and I have begun doing) is the most efficient. I use the four stages of enlightenment (streamwinner, once-returner, nonreturner, and arahant) to assess progress. Jeff mostly teaches nonreturners. I've been trying to raise two nonreturners to arahantship, as well as induct a few new people up to once-returning.

Doing it with my method, though, requires you to develop intuition. I use it to assess their progress.

I don't want to be dismissive but many of the people contacting you are frivolous. The spiritual quest requires dedication and diligence. A passing fancy about meditating doesn't mean anything. See if you can identify one or two who are serious. Then you can assist them.

There is one thesis of the "esoteric line of succession." Through Jeff and myself you know two arahants. You are under our discipline; your students are under yours. Ultimately we are all connected to the Source.

Thanks Alex, thanks for your thoughts.  I do think that's true that most of the people who have contacted me are not serious, I will definitely have to double check that.

I use a similar system of levels as well (3rd Dimension - 8th Dimension).  Similar to those 4 levels you discuss from Buddhism.  I can discuss my interpretations of the dimensions of consciousness if anyone likes.  Cool to see the similarities :-)
