Induce an OOBE
« on: August 24, 2012, 06:24:08 PM »
I ran into this article:
http://near-death.com/experiences/paranormal11.html

I find it interesting because I have seen Jhananda describe vibrational sensations, and the hypnagogic state and various conditions described sound like different levels of meditation.

Thanks, Soren, I read Robert Monroe's Journeys out of the Body back in 1974 when I began traveling out-of-body.  Since then I have developed a contemplative life, which Robert Monroe does not seem to understand.  So, while there are parallels between Robert Monroe's work, and my own I believe I have taken it much further than he has by leading a rigorous, self-aware contemplative life.

Hello Jhananda. It seems fairly obvious to me that anyone leading a contemplative life would be able to take religious experiences further. I found the parallels interesting because it seems to validate that these experiences are "real," and not just belonging to people with an overactive imagination. Did you ever try to use the methods of Robert Monroe? Or have you stuck with experiencing out of bodies through regular meditation?

Back alomst 40 years ago, Soren, I read every book I could find on the OOBE.  At that time I recognized that my contemplative life led to my OOBEs, so I realized that I had already gone far, far beyond Robert Monroe and the other authors on the OOBE, because they did not recognize that, so why should I bother with their elementary system, when I was already a graduate.
