My Enlightened Dream of Right Livlihood
« on: February 23, 2013, 02:05:30 AM »
It has long been a dream of mine to open a place where anyone can come and meditate and ask questions etc. I would demand no payment, merely ask anyone who participated to leave any donation they felt was fair, including leaving none if they felt that was fair. I would not use any of the money donated except to purchase the meager things I need to live; instead I would use the donations to buy land and take in the homeless. Anyone and everyone would be welcome, I would only ask that the person contribute what he can to the community; e.g. if he likes to garden grow food for us, if he likes to build make shelter for us, etc. Most of the day would be spent either doing what needs to be done or meditating. As more donations come in, more land is purchased and more homeless come and live free contributing according to their gifts. And so on and so on...

I really feel this is my calling because it is so strong in me. But I have not been able to do it yet. However, I think this would be right livlihood. Thoughts?

Your aspirations seem reasonable, Lori.  My aspirations are to provide at least one retreat center where people are welcome to meditate deeply.  Apparently neither aspiration is yet of value to those who are able to fund it.
