Film : 'Vision - From the Life of Hildegarde Von Bingen'
« on: March 28, 2013, 12:30:58 AM »

I saw this movie a couple of years ago. It showed both the qualities and faults of this mystic. For example, Hildegarde was tremendously courageous to speak her truth at a time when women did not have many rights. But she also got extremely attached to one of the younger nuns. So I thought it was a good film because it showed that some mystics aren't perfect.

Hildegard of Bingen was also a writer, composer, and a healer; what originally got my attention was that she believed in the healing power of gemstones.

Thank-you, Violet for bringing our attention to another mystic, Hildegarde Von Bingen.  the following quote is consistent with the findings here, that the charisms manifest in the sensory domain; however, they are not a product of sensory stimulation.
Quote from: Wiki
Hildegard explained that she saw all things in the light of God through the five senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch.[15]
At one time I had a library of music and one of my favorite CDs was a CD of nuns chanting Hildegard's chants.  Now I just listen to the holy spirit, which is more beautiful and more comforting than anything I have ever heard.
