Sorry, everyone I came home after a long driving trip to find an email from Michel letting me know the forum has been down for a while.  I just got it back up and running again.  Hopefully it will stay that way for a while.

There has been a problem with this forum software for months, which has prevented me from backing it up.  I thought moving the forum would fix the problem but it has not. So, I plan to upgrade the software today or tomorrow, which should fix the problem.  Hopefully there will be no disruption of service during the upgrade, but there might be, so be prepared for at most (hopefully) a short outage during the upgrade.

The upgrade to the forum software is complete. It appears that the upgrade did not cause any problems with the forum operation, but let me know if you find anything missing in the archive.

Last night I found both of my forums down.  At first I thought that they had been hacked.  I contacted my host's on-line tech support via chat, and they told me there was a problem with my forum software.  So, searched the archives of the forum software tech support forum, and found that other forum administrators have had the same problem with the same host. Just in case it was another problem, I reported the outage to the forum software tech support forum.  This morning I found both forums running again.

My apologies to anyone who found the forum down.  It appears that I will have to find another hosting service to move the forum to, which is likely to result in extensive outages while the transfer of resources takes place.  Hopefully it will not take a month next time, as I have learned a lot in the process of moving it last time.

Sorry, friends, for the forum outage.  It is now fixed, but the problem that was reported to me by my web host has me concerned.  Hopefully there will be no more such down time in the near future.

Glad you are all back and everything is ok, I thought the site must have been hacked or something.

The site may have been hacked, or perhaps my web host had screwed something up, but it is good to have it back on line, and thanks for your concern.  It is good to hear from you again, William.

The forum appears to have been down for a while.  I have fixed it.  I hope that it was not too much of an inconvenience for the members.

Hello friends, the web site for the GWV was suspended due to what our service provider believed was SPAM.  I am not sure if I have completely solved the problem, so there might be more suspension coming until I solve the problem.

I spent the day pruning the database, which I believe was necessary to solve this problem.  If you found your membership deleted, then please let me know, and please accept my apology.

Sorry everyone for the disruption of service.  I thought I had properly automated the paying of the GWV web services, but there were too many auto-payments for December, which over-drew my accounts.  If I had a computer I would have caught it sooner.

Anyway, I hope everyone checks back soon.

Good to see the forum back up and running, Jeffrey.  Did you end up finding new hardware, or were you able to fix your laptops...?
