: Can a saintly Aryia person be sick?
: Jhanek December 24, 2017, 10:52:40 AM
Hello,

I was thinking about mind-body phenomena. During meditation older and older symptoms of this disease or that disease pop up. The same way they vanish and body recovers from it permanently. This is my experience. So without craving and aversion it is not possible that a pure mind is connected with ill body unless it is physical damage like broken leg or scending process. Also the jhana factor is very refreshing, that preserves the body, not to mention that becoming Aryia establishes that state.

In addition there are many stories like XVI Karmapa that took the diseases of whole hospital when passing away and the doctors trying to save him seen 0 reaction of his body to any of the strong drugs.

What do you think?

Saint Francis of Assisi; whom I accept as fully enlightened had many illnesses.  Siddhartha Gautama; whom I also accept as fully enlightened, also had many illnesses.  And, I am diabetic, and have quite a bit of arthritis pain, so I conclude that, while I have also used jhana for healing myself and others, it does not mean that one who is enlightened will be free of sickness.
