Hello There
I was wondering how to prolong an OOB. Mine are seemingly only a few seconds long.
I usually am aware of being out and my first thought is I hope this doesn't end, I have learned just to go where I am sent instead of trying to go places.
I try to stay aware but not to start thinking.
One time I tried standing on one foot and spinning in a circle to try and stay OOB but I lost vision and ended up in black.
Last night I was out twice and the second time I immediately surrendered, but what happened is that I turned into a point of light and then dissapeared into blackness. That has happened before, so I just waited and nothing happened so I quit and went to sleep.
Does anyone know how to make it last longer, I presume it is just the level I am at and I presume that I should just meditate :-)
Bless Valdy

Thanks, Valdy, for posting your question. Basically, the answer for intensifying any charism is for the contemplative to learn how to meditate skillfully and then meditate a lot. And, of course, meditating skillfully is all about letting go deeply. So, give up trying to do anything, or be anywhere, and just let the charism do whatever it wants to.

Hello Jeff
Congrats to getting the forum back up : -)
I also have cronic fatigue does that come from meditation?
I have to balance it with bliss to stay out of trouble.
About 4 nights ago I had an OOB where I was again trying to stay as long as I could. I tried jiggling up and down but that started me to go black.
I saw a beam of light and started to focus on that and the scene got sharper and started to brighten up and I was able to continue.
Best Wishes Valdy

Thanks, Valdy. It is good to hear from you again.

I have met so many contemplatives who happen to have chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), and I seem to, that I am convinced CFS is part of the package. Another thing that I have is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). Back when I was in Bolinas I met a whole group of MCS suffers. It turns out many of them are contemplatives as well.
So, why is it that a contemplative would develop CFS and MCS? This is my explanation. When a contemplative learns to meditate skillfully they go through a period of hypersensitivity. This hypersensitivity does not undermine their health. It is the hypersensitivity that clues them into what is unwholesome, and why we become hypersensitive about our energy levels.
The non-skillful contemplatives are not sensitive, so they do not know that there are many toxic chemicals in our world that are making them sick; and they are not aware of when their energy is dropping. If they are, they smoke a cigarette, or consume a stimulant, such as caffeine.
The skillful contemplative recognizes what is harmful and avoids it. The skillful contemplative recognizes when his or her energy is in decline. At that time they rest, or meditate.

It is the trying that is the problem, but focusing upon the light will make any OOBE, or death, much better, elevating.
