I have just signed up for another web hosting service, and the switch over to the new service should take place in the next 24 hours. So, there might be a brief disruption in service. Hopefully there will be no hick-ups.
-
Hello members, I have had nothing but trouble trying to switch to another service provider and move the files for this forum and my other forum and website; however, the deadline for that transfer is rapidly approaching, so I am going to try and do that change today. So, be prepared for a brief interruption of service, and some possible lost files.
-
Update, the transfer of my domains, email addresses, websites and forums has already gotten too painful to deal with today. It looks like it is going to take at least a week for everyone involved to press a button. So, I am going to meditate instead of taking an anti-anxiety pill.
-
After far too much anxiety producing go-arounds, the switch to the new web-host is supposedly now out of my control, and will just happen in the next week. When it does there might be some delays, dropped messages or memberships, so please be patient.
-
I understand the anxiety you're going through; there's lots of precious material that could be lost. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as well. I copied and pasted into a Microsoft Word document the discussion we had on the Noble Eightfold Path.

Thank-you, Michel. All could be lost all too easily. There are so many contributions to this forum, that are priceless to me, and I am sure to others, as well as future mystics.
I have been told the transfer could take as much as a week. I backed up both forums and the website this morning to my computer. I plan to backup the backup to an external hard drive, which is kept in a tin box for safety. I plan to keep backing up the GWV's web resources every day until the transfer is complete. I might just make it a habit and back everything up daily.
-
I just received notification from my web host that this forum has been successfully moved to its new server. Apparently nothing was lost, and the forum is working.
-
I'm very happy to hear nothing was lost.
-
Thank-you Michel, and friends for your patience. After weeks and great effort I finally jump through all of the hoops to get the website, email and forums running. Many apologies for the long delay. Fortunately it appears the was no loss of data.
-
Glad that now everything's have normalized. Cheers
-
Thank you Jhananda -very much- for the great efforts you made to get the forum back up and running. I am so happy.
-
Hello friends, Sam and Michel, thank-you ever so much for your kind support and interest in this forum. We had a short outage again after I tried sending a newsletter out to the membership to notify them of the GWV web resources being back on line. The new host saw 120,000 email going out suddenly from this new website and shut it down for a few hours. Oh well, that is one of the many problems that SPAM has caused us, because most of those 120,000 members are just SPAM engines.
-
It's so good to see the forum back up and running -- thanks to Jeffrey for putting in all the hard, hair-pulling work to make the switch-over happen. I'm looking forward to reading new contributions from everyone -- including myself!
-
Thank-you Michael, transferring the GWV web resources to a new host was absolutely hard, hair-pulling, work. Many days went by when I just could not deal with. I would give it up, walk away from it, and be content to let all of this work go down the tubes; then after a few days away from it, I would find renewal in meditation, and come back to it fresh, to find it just as hair-pulling a process. This is why it took weeks, because I found every step of the process maddening.

Computers are a blessing and a curse. Technology can be very unforgiving and stressful for a mystic. Good to see you pulled through, and Im sorry you had to suffer.
It reminds me once more to be grateful for the service you provide.
-
Thank-you, mapeli, for expressing your appreciation. Hopefully this maneuver will not have to happen again.
-
Sorry, everyone I came home after a long driving trip to find an email from Michel letting me know the forum has been down for a while. I just got it back up and running again. Hopefully it will stay that way for a while.
-
There has been a problem with this forum software for months, which has prevented me from backing it up. I thought moving the forum would fix the problem but it has not. So, I plan to upgrade the software today or tomorrow, which should fix the problem. Hopefully there will be no disruption of service during the upgrade, but there might be, so be prepared for at most (hopefully) a short outage during the upgrade.
-
The upgrade to the forum software is complete. It appears that the upgrade did not cause any problems with the forum operation, but let me know if you find anything missing in the archive.
-
Last night I found both of my forums down. At first I thought that they had been hacked. I contacted my host's on-line tech support via chat, and they told me there was a problem with my forum software. So, searched the archives of the forum software tech support forum, and found that other forum administrators have had the same problem with the same host. Just in case it was another problem, I reported the outage to the forum software tech support forum. This morning I found both forums running again.
My apologies to anyone who found the forum down. It appears that I will have to find another hosting service to move the forum to, which is likely to result in extensive outages while the transfer of resources takes place. Hopefully it will not take a month next time, as I have learned a lot in the process of moving it last time.
-
Sorry, friends, for the forum outage. It is now fixed, but the problem that was reported to me by my web host has me concerned. Hopefully there will be no more such down time in the near future.
-
I'm glad to see we're back in business. I really missed not having access to the forum.
-
I am glad that you appreciate the forum, Michel. It is here much to due to your help.
-
Glad you are all back and everything is ok, I thought the site must have been hacked or something.
-
The site may have been hacked, or perhaps my web host had screwed something up, but it is good to have it back on line, and thanks for your concern. It is good to hear from you again, William.
-
Sorry folks, our webhost seems to have had an outage. The forum is not up and running.
-
The forum appears to have been down for a while. I have fixed it. I hope that it was not too much of an inconvenience for the members.
-
Hello friends, the web site for the GWV was suspended due to what our service provider believed was SPAM. I am not sure if I have completely solved the problem, so there might be more suspension coming until I solve the problem.
I spent the day pruning the database, which I believe was necessary to solve this problem. If you found your membership deleted, then please let me know, and please accept my apology.
-
Sorry everyone for the disruption of service. I thought I had properly automated the paying of the GWV web services, but there were too many auto-payments for December, which over-drew my accounts. If I had a computer I would have caught it sooner.
Anyway, I hope everyone checks back soon.

Good to see the forum back up and running, Jeffrey. Did you end up finding new hardware, or were you able to fix your laptops...?
-
Thanks, for expressing your kind thoughts. No, I have not either repaired or replaced my Mac PowerBook Pro. I hope that someone will have an old one that they do not need and will send it to me.
-
No, inconvenience. I did miss you, though. My wife asked about the next retreat.
Glad you're OK, this made my day!
Can't wait to catch up on the forum.
-
Good to know that you appreciate the forum. We can have another retreat any time people want one.
