Sunset Limited (movie) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1510938/), written by Cormac McCarthy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cormac_McCarthy) and directed by Tommy Lee Jones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Lee_Jones).
Actors: Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_L._Jackson).
The movie is a dialog between these two excellent actors in a ghetto apartment in NYC.  Tommy Lee Jones plays a professor who had attempted suicide that morning by jumping in front of the Sunset Limited commuter train. Samuel L. Jackson interrupted the professor's intentions, and they spend the night talking about religion and philosophy.

Samuel L. Jackson plays an ex-con turned born-again Christian with impeccability.

The professor's argument is life sucks so bad that there is no point in going on. The born-again Christian argument does not satisfy him.

I will not spoil the excellent conclusion of this movie; however, I found the professor's argument represented the 1st of the 4 noble truths very well.  Sadly, the mystic's solution is not presented.

Thanks for the link Sam.  This movie is all about Dukkha, which is the 1st Noble Truth, which represents the necessary motivational spiritual crisis needed to take up the contemplative life, which represents the 4th Noble Truth.
