If you examine the history of mystic, then you will find most of them were marginalized by the priesthood of the dominant religion of the day. It has become clear here that of those who find the deep meditation experience they generally find it on their own, and they most often have very high IQs, as shown in one of the threads here on the subject.
Also, by examining the history of mystics they very often times have only a few disciples. My reasoning for that is there are very few people who have sufficient IQ to meditate deeply, and those people are thinly spread across the Earth, as we see in our membership. Consequently we are in a rather excellent position on this forum to develop a world-wide sangha of those who actually meditate deeply.
Yes, it would be nice if we can come together from time to time to meditate and dialog together. For the past 8 years my health had been too poor to lead a meditation sit, so the retreats that we had were more about us getting together as a community, and engaging dialog.
However, my health has so improved since last winter, when I nearly died from a fungal infection in my lunges, that it might be indeed a good opportunity to organize another retreat.
