Celibacy
« on: September 11, 2014, 09:33:14 PM »
Alexander prompted a self-denial spree. Celibacy was one of these that I decided to "test." It appears celibacy is like rocket fuel for the unfolding process. A forum search did not turn up results for celibacy, so I made a thread.

Watch out for the women, Jhanon...

"... there are forms cognizable by the eye that are desirable, lovely, agreeable, pleasing, sensually enticing, tantalizing. If a bhikkhu seeks delight in them, welcomes them, and remains holding to them, delight arises in him. With the arising of delight, Punna, there is the arising of suffering, I say.

LOL. Something's changed in you, Michel. And it's "good."

But, you don't need to worry about me and women. Thankfully, the only problem I ever had with that was forcing myself to have desire for them in my early 20's. For some reason I was born without much "drive" if you catch me. And no, I don't have desire for men  :o

Really!? Then you are truly a rare form of life, Jhanon. LOL Seriously, that's interesting, you may have been a contemplative mystic in your former lives? Is this the case?

I've always been a joker. I just don't express it that much here. Maybe I should lighten up here on the forum.

The most close cause appears to be that my entire life I've been unsatisfied or undriven for worldly things, no matter how much effort I exerted. As a consequence, every worldly endeavor for provision has failed. You can extrapolate from there.

I think it's good to lighten up. Sometimes we take practice so seriously that identity sneaks in the back door. This is the same as our "grip" on a meditation object being too forceful, and therefor a meditation is unsuccessful. But, also, we can be so light that we become careless and it's also then unsuccessful. This "special contradictory nature" in all practice and Nature is my greatest adversary.

It reminds me when I was very young, and I resolved to attain "Discipline and Balance."

It sounds like you are a natural mendicant.
There is no progress without discipline.

I appreciate your words, as you may have sensed I said that last comment with hint of sorrow. That was the self.
