Skillful Diets Conducive to the Mystic Life
« on: September 15, 2014, 05:51:58 PM »
Hello you health gurus. I need to ask a question about B12 (mmethylcobalimin) and D3 (Cholecalciferol) for supplementation of a fruitarian diet. I love the fruitarian diet. It's so successful, I consider it paramount importance. This is because my body has been under significant strain, stress, and overall suffering since I was an infant, due to my not realizing most food is shit, and then being able to change the diet and stick to it. Thank goodness for the GWV. I'm down to my highschool weight, and consistently feel better than I ever have.

The problem is that I can't get enough sun exposure, don't want to use a tanning bed, and my diet doesn't contain adequate levels of B12 and D3. At least, that's what my past schooling, recent food choices and research have revealed.

So, I need to know; is there some magical effect of being a mystic and able to more easily maintain health despite likely deficiencies such as these? Or, what is your findings on my question regarding supplementation?

For reference my diet consists of:

- A variety of fruits (about 60 percent of calories)
- Nuts and a lesser amount of seeds (about 20 percent of calories)
- Leafy Greens, usually Romaine because my body does very well with this leafy green. (about 18 percent of calories.)
- Occasional small amounts of meat, which is why I'm lead to ask about B12, as I would otherwise not eat meat because of various reasons, including the discomfort it causes. (This makes up about 2 percent of my calories.)
- Almost no spices, seasonings, and NO cooking. It's all raw and unchanged.

So I feel better than I was on just a natural, organic, non-gmo plant-based diet, but I've suddenly begun to think I should supplement B12 and D3 now that I'm far more aware of how what I put in the body affects me.

What do you think? And, I require no dissuading from this diet. It's everything a mystic like me could ever ask for. The body gives me CLEAR signs when I eat something which conflicts with the body. This is why i am hoping to eliminate meat altogether.

i was just about to purchase the D3 and B12 supplements that I know actually work, but want to conserve money if I can by asking your guidance. Also, feel free to post your diet and why it works for you.

Sariputta's words on diet:

“And how, friend, is one moderate in eating? Here, reflecting carefully, a bhikkhu takes food neither for amusement nor for intoxication nor for the sake of physical beauty and attractiveness, but only for the support and maintenance of this body, for ending discomfort, and for assisting the holy life, considering: ‘Thus I shall terminate the old feeling and not arouse a new feeling, and I shall be healthy and blameless and live in comfort.’ It is in this way, friend, that one is moderate in eating."

Jhanon, all fermented foods have B12.  This means yogurt, kifir, fermented sauerkraut, kimchi, etc. have B12.  I am not sure how to get D without sun bathing in cloudy places.

Soya beans have B12 but with today's crop, it's mostly GMO and wouldn't be exactly healthy. Eggs have B12, if you prefer it over actual meat. Dried Shitake mushroom have D2 but not D3. The only way is to take supplement..

Strangely a vegan diet is more conducive for a contemplative as it has lighter vibration and one can progress faster.

Oh yeah! I forgot about fermenting and sprouting. Thank you, Jhananda.

Unfortunately, no animal products agree with this body, gandarloda. So, I agree that the supplements will be necessary. And yes, I've found fruit specifically to accelerate the mystic considerably.

I went ahead and ordered B12 and D3 that I know are in the correct form. I will report my findings, and see if I can find a more sustainable and natural alternative such as the fermented foods. Unfortunately, most fermented foods this body doesn't agree with.

I would enjoy knowing the diet of everyone else here.

Diet actually seems central to the path. Consider how few people actually eat what their body needs, and sticks to it.

I've coached many people on their diets, but have found it is in vain if they don't develop spiritually as we do here. At the Holistic Health school I attended, they actually taught us to just get people eating food from the earth. And then being able to utilize their intuition to correct for imbalances (as our dietary needs change.) I realized shortly after graduating, that the founder and leader was attempting to resolve a major political socio-economical issue by helping the world develop spiritually.

The spiritual development irectly coincides with an ability to make the best food choices and consistently stick to it with very minimal effort. It came in stages corresponding with attainments.

The mystic path is truly fulfilling!

Yes, good recommendation, gandarloda.  I had thought to include all mushrooms have B-12, so any edible mushroom will do.

Thank-you, gandarloda. Another source of B-12 is beer. List of Vitamins in Beer. See also Vitamin B12 in Mushrooms, Not Exclusive to Meat, Dairy.

LOL! Unfortunately, my body also doesn't tolerate beer. Even a half of a beer.

I will look into the list.
