Affecting Electronics?
« on: October 24, 2015, 04:31:55 PM »
Sometimes when I meditate, the power circuit board goes off... or sometimes the light bulbs flicker... I heard from my friend that he busted a microwave oven, or fried some electronics. At first I thought I was getting 'phosphenes', where my vision would flicker as flashes of light, but I later realized that sometimes it was because my light bulb actually flickered, because others in the room would see it too. Therefore I started to wonder if there might be a relationship between kundalini and electromagnetism?

Just wondering if any of you had the same experience here? I mean, I read Jhanananda's thread on solar flares, EMF and health. Also, I've seen how some people are so sensitive that they cannot stand near a microwave oven when it is operating. I know that it might have to do with some sensitivity, but I was wondering about whether it is a good thing to meditate near electrical supplies.

Are you saying the light was off and it flickered on? Or that it was on and flickered off? I also see a "flickering of light" while meditating. Sometimes, it comes as a flash that "flips my off switch" I was convinced one time that I could actually smell electricity. I was in a High voltage panel room at work, and was meditating. 10's of thousands of volts of electricity were in that room. I was never effected, besides the time I thought I smelled it.

Do you live in a dorm, or with others? I might try recording a sit while youre alone to see.

In my experience various physical world phenomena occurs, sometimes in conjunction with a deep meditation experience.  Since I have found no ability to change the world through deep meditation, as much as I wanted to; thus, I have had to conclude that any observable correlates fall most probably under the category of coincidence.

I am well aware that the new-age world commonly believes that much of the charismatic phenomena that many of us here have reported is of electromagnetic origin; nonetheless, I see no correlation at all, other than a similitude.

Like Cal, since I have worked with electricity for decades, then I too have been present for high voltage and high current events, none of which had any sensory effect upon me beyond what anyone else who does not meditate would experience.

However, I frequently have the experience of flashes of light or increasing glowing light experienced while in meditation.  Since I live in a van, then sometimes I open my eyes expecting to see the bright lights of an automobile, but I find it is dark, so I close my eyes to meditate and find the bright light is coming from within.

So, Alexander it sounds more like the charism of light is arising in you.
