Marriage and Involvement
« on: August 09, 2016, 01:22:05 PM »
What are your thoughts about getting married ? Does it or can it hinder ur spiritual progress in some way or the other? Will it increase our attachment ?
This brings another doubt that, what way of practising spirituality is better, being in world among people where u can judge ur mental state practically all the time but have less time to focus on meditation practice or to live a solitary life where you have lot of time for practice but no means to practically check, face and resolve mental shortcomings?

Even though my own personal experience says that practicing meditation in solitude brings quick success but that state is vulnerable and integrating it in daily normal worldly life is something altogether different which may take years together, I still get confused about this at times.. Wud like to hear accomplished mystics views. Thankyou

It all depends upon whom you marry, because marriage can be torment or a blessing depending upon who you end up spending the rest of your life with.

I was married, but I still practiced meditation every day.  Those who lead a worldly life, but do not lead a contemplative life, make no progress.  Those who put the robes on and pretend to lead a holy life, also make no progress. However, those who learn to lead a fruitful, disciplined, self-aware, contemplative life will reap much superior fruit; whether they are married or not.

Having to integrate a fruitful, disciplined, self-aware, contemplative life into a daily "normal" worldly life makes no sense to me.  The world is horribly corrupt.  Why does one have to integrate into it?
There is no progress without discipline.
