Food habits
« on: December 28, 2021, 02:28:35 PM »
I have been meaning to ask you this for long Jeffry, what's your diet plan looks like for the day? I want to analyse for study purposes if diet u r having is in any way exacerbating ur health conditions. Incidentally I have started experiencing breathlessness since few months now. I was On a raw diet (mainly) and eating fruits everyday for 2 years. My liver started showing high values of sgpt/sgot even though I wasn't taking any fats. Now I also noticed I feel that congestion in chest and breathlessness after drinking water. Since few days I have stopped eating fruits altogether and also raw veggies I had stopped many days back now. Let's see how this goes

Update on this, after stopping raw foods altogether the skyrockted liver enzymed fell back within limits in a matter of 5-6 months. Also the breathlessness is considerably reduced. But the nerve pains are not going away, and they become worse if I do any kindof exercise or even labourous work. Im working an office jon, so i still cudnt tried changing places cause i live in a metro and the weather conditions and pollution are knwn factors here to cause breathing illnesses. However as this debilitating condition isnt getting allright enough for me to meditate not to mention the nausea and imbalance issues i get due to meditation, i m seriously thinking of giving up job. That cud mean i might not take up other job for life cause usually all the good paying jobs are in metros, and if i go back to small city, i wont be coming back here again. Other impediments are that I havent saved enough for me to last a lifetime, also idk if the health will get better with switching places, cause i dont want to get stuck with both no-money and worse health!

Also to Jeffery if you will be so kind of answer what kindof food have u been taking these past few years?
Thankyou guys

Alexander

Is there an ashram you could join? Does it interest you? I know that sort of option is available in India as opposed to in the US. It is something to consider. If you find yourself in a desperate situation, however, do write here as you are among friends.

It is interesting you mention the liver as I have had issues with my own. Strangely my liver tests (I have had 3-4 over the past five years) have all come back normal, however I have an enlarged liver which gives me abdominal pain frequently. I have since quit all sugar, alcohol, and artificial sweeteners - but it's very temperamental. Here in the US they put sugar in everything and if I consume even a small amount the pain returns.

These sorts of issues seem unavoidable in being down here.

Sorry to hear of your health issues, Naman. I have had chronic autoimmune conditions most of my life and I have tried everything I can to get them under control including 2 years on all organic raw diet.  While I did find diet helped; nonetheless, the many diets I tried never solved my autoimmune conditions; whereas, using air purifiers have.  So, I highly recommend you invest in air purifiers and know that HEPA alone is not enough, but activated charcoal and adjusting the ambient humidity to roughly 50% helps me a great deal.

Also, please note I have returned to the forest near Flagstaff for my health where I can be off my air purifiers often for hours.  I am currently using my cell phone in a tower as a wifi hotspot, which means I may not be able to get online every day.
There is no progress without discipline.

If you want to post to this forum, then send me a PM.

Hello Alex and Jhananada,

Thanks for writing back :)

Ashram is an option but trust me it's not an easy decision to make here in India cause your life is influenced so much by the family.. now adays my sister is staying with me and if i Quit job that wud mean no financial assistance for my parents and sister. The social structure here makes it difficult to make free choices like that. Moreover in ashram people won't encourage you to sit idle cause of some disability or health condition unless u have something to offer, money perhaps. That brings another aspect of financial freedom, and the job i have is with the Govt, if I quit this then therez no returning to this same job. I also wanted to earn a bit before i quit for lifetime from the jobs. But the inflation is killing it, no matter how much u save it's not enough. I wudnt wanna end up 20-30 years down the line , with no money and a worse health condition. The medical and old age facilities in India are worse. U can't expect any help from anyone once u stop earning.
Sorry to hear abt ur enlarged liver. U can try detoxification herbs it's called "triphala" for a few days at night before sleeping it might help get rid of some toxins.
I guess living in India or Usa have its own pros n cons but nonetheless life is a mess mostly everywhere.

Jeffery, I m glad to learn that you are feeling better. I knw everytime u have suggested air filter for the health issues, i actually wud wanna try that my only apprehension is what if i body get used to it and i can't remain off of it for even few hours, it wud become arduous to maintain that with a desk job.
My plan was to either earn so much and retire to some forest area like u r which seems impossible now with the current job n inflation. Other way was to learn a way to earn so that ican beat inflation, only thing was to learn trading stocks n forex which I'm learning from past 3 years almost.
With these constraints I'm trying to make best of the things n keep myself contained.

On the other hand, my depth of silence is automatically growing, meditation feels like it's happening to me on its own since i have dropped all the passions, desires, ego centric life. It feels like a free fall into the source of creation. However i don't do sitting meditations cause it brings back nausea and palpitations.
To add about my health condition, the abdominal pain n breathlessness is much much better since i have stopped eating fruits n raw vegetables/salads, curd etc all the cold and kapha increasing foods. Also it seems like water was also having some kindof effect. Changed the water too.
Recently i have been on a official visit to other city and my health felt better, near the Sea shore and warm humid weather. The city I'm in is mostly cold damp n cloud cover n polluted too. But the nerve pains n no better, they seems to get silghtly downhill.

Hopefully you guys are doing better. It's kindof delayed reply from my side.
