Health issues and practice
« on: April 18, 2022, 11:06:56 AM »
How does everyone deal with physical health issues when one is trying to sit for 1-2 hours?

For example, I have had chronic post-nasal drip for two years. So if I do not take the nasal spray (and sometimes if I do) I start coughing chronically which obviously brings the process to a halt.

I also have a chronic abdominal pain which comes and goes and is another impediment.

I believe Jeff mentioned he had COPD at one point so I can't imagine how difficult that is when trying to sit (much worse than mine). I wonder how others overcome.

I've been treating my COPD with air purifiers which have also eliminated runny nose, coughing and other respiratory difficulties, so you might try using air purifiers and a humidifier to reduce your respiratory difficulties.

Have you tried laying down meditation? I personally like it a lot especially when the body is tired or hurting. It might be harder to concentrate than sitting but still great results overall

Yes, I have been practicing lying down meditation while waiting for sleep to come for decades, and is a major factor in my attainment of the OOBE.  Also, now that I have to be on my ventilator almost 24/7 then I am most of the time practicing laying down meditation, while on the ventilator.

Jhananda,

it is good to know that lying down position helps you. I remember reading on GWV your teachings where you mentioned that you sometimes practiced lying down meditation. So my post was primarily directed at Alexander.
