Back problems on retreat
« on: February 24, 2023, 12:01:11 AM »
I have been on full time retreat for about a year.  Usually during the day I tend to sit in one upright position for long periods of time and this week I noticed some back pain and difficulty bending.  I am wondering if this is related to my retreat and common for other praticioners as well as if there is a suggested solution.

You might try a daily hatha yoga practice.  It helps me when on retreat.

Very cool.  I have started my changing my pillow to something more supportive.

Another thing one might try when meditating for long periods is elevating your rear on a pillow until your knees touch the floor.  This will reduce stress on the back.
