A couple years ago I accidentally stumbled upon an article about a British WW2 vet who became a Christian monk and a modern day martyr. He must have attained a high level of holiness.

Interesting
I'll contemplate him
It sounds like he's on the right track (Franciscans)
Though holiness isn't doing the Mother Theresa thing. That's a common misunderstanding
I don't think he achieved arahantship
But I'll let you know if I discover anything
Edit: Right now I'm investigating Morrigan (the lost female prophet mentioned to Jeffrey)
I've discovered several things
She was a very interesting woman
She was a conqueror, just like Mohammed
And she could talk circles around everyone (she "put a spell on you")
Her religion was based on speech and initiation
Though it degenerated rapidly (unfortunately). The Germanic religion proved far more resilient
I assume she lived in deep antiquity. That's why there's little historical knowledge of her
But I'm trying to see if I can literally speak with her. It would be nice to redeem the memory of a forgotten heroine.
