The fruit of attainment in Hinduism
« on: December 21, 2011, 02:03:33 PM »
The fruit of attainment in Hinduism is described best in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.  The term for the chapter that deals with the successful fruit of attainment is called 'phala.'  It is the same term that is used in the Discourses of the Buddha to described the superior fruit of attainment by following his path.  So, we can conclude that both Patanjali and Siddhartha Gautama understood fruit of attainment of leading a contemplative life in much the same way.
