I've mentioned before that music corresponds with moods. It's a powerful tool for set and setting, allowing one to see beyond stubborn blockades of the identity. As part of a writing project, I thought it would be interesting to see my own progression in music and what each one corresponded with. So, I listened to songs of each genre of which I had the most affinity toward, and described what I felt. Note that each genre does not contain any "pop versions" of the genre. Lindsey Stirling's latest work would be an example of moving past quality art into "pop." Additionally, note that only songs which facilitated kundalini response have been provided. In other words, I followed kundalini as it progressed through these genres over the span of 7 years--having no idea where it was taking me.
What Friends Liked - No idea what is going on (only genre with no kundalini present.)
Rap - Anger that what is going on is not okay.
Chill/Downtempo - Everything is pathetic and depressing.
Dubstep - Annihilation of all useless acquisition.
Electronica - Intuition that something of value is underneath it all.
Jazz/Reggae - Everything is not fine, but attempt to enjoy things as they already are anyway.
Tripstep - Identification of remaining hindrances and exploration of the unknown.
Trip-Hop - Rabbit holes revealed, and explored.
Deep Dubstep -Annihilation of additional surface.
Progressive House - Value discovered and identified.
Dark Dubstep - Annihilation of hidden surface levels.
Ambient - Resting in identified value.
Drum n Bass - Purification of remaining surface in progress.
Electro-Swing - Enjoying what is already purified.
Drone - Final refuge identified and worked toward.
(I've studied the biographies of the most influential artists. Also, I've studied the comments provided on the artist's songs on YouTube. There is an obvious progression observable in the genre's. In other words, it is likely that pioneering artists of these genre's have the corresponding description in mystic understanding.
For example, the following song is from the genre dubstep, which was described as "annihilation of useless acquisition." It is preceeded by "Everything is pathetic and depressing" and proceeded by "intuition (knowing) of something of value is underneath it all." The song is called "Knowing" by Distance...
