When I saw this thread I was immediately reminded of the movie There Will Be Blood. I don't remember a lot of the particulars of it but I do remember the ending being an example of what wealth (perhaps the capitalist mentality in general) can lead to.

Thanks, Zack, I recall when the adds for the movie "There Will Be Blood" came out, and having a background in petroleum research, and an interest in how cultures get corrupted by the wealthy, I was interested in seeing this movie, but I never did.  So, perhaps I will one day.
