Merry Christmas everyone.  While I do not wish to offend anyone who might have special devotion to Jesus; nonetheless, the message here is Jesus was one of many mystics who have come to the planet to help people become enlightened.

Mystics are not born, they are made through leading a rigorous, self-aware contemplative life.  Thus, Jesus became a mystic through leading a rigorous, self-aware contemplative life.  Therefore, the celebration, or veneration, of any mystic is to celebrate the possibility that anyone can become enlightened in their very lifetime by leading a rigorous, self-aware contemplative life.  So, may you all become enlightened in this lifetime.
