Spontaneous utterances during meditation happen to some contemplatives.  It is a charismatic phenomena known as Glossolalia. You may find viewing the following video on this subject of interest:

Glossolalia, Spontaneous Utterance During Meditation
Charismatic, spontaneous, involuntary, automatic utterances, vocalizations and speaking in tongues during meditation

I noticed that there has been a significant spike in the viewing of my YouTube video on Glossolalia, Spontaneous Utterance During Meditation of several hundred views.  I am not sure why, but I guess that some forum somewhere on the WWW is discussing the topic now.  It would be nice to understand the reason for the sudden interest in this subject, while most other fruit of the contemplative life are ignored?

When I was a teenager I became involved with various streams of charismatic Christianity and I woke one morning when I was 18 and could speak in a different language and it felt good. I can still do so at will but really don't find a need to very often now that I have attained the sublime peace and ecstasy of jhana. In the same way that jhana is forced to the fringes in most of Buddhism, tongue-speaking is ignored by most of Christianity despite it being blatantly obvious in the sacred texts of that religious tradition (See St. Paul's Letters to the Corinthians).

Well, I find it is a truism that every religion was founded by a mystic, but the charisms that mystic described are too often misunderstood, and anyone who manifests them in the here and now, gets marginalized.

Marginalized is the best descriptor word of my experience within every single religion/denomination.

Yes, it is too bad that religions do not value their mystics.  So, my recommendation to my fellow mystics is to form a community to support each other socially and materially.  This forum is the beginning of that.  I expect that some day enough mystics will join resources to form at least one small community where fellow mystics are welcome, and valued.

For what it is worth I remembered a woman who made wonderful moaning sounds at a Goenka retreat - perhaps 2001.  A group of us talked about how much we liked her moans.  No staff member talked with her and she finished the retreat still moaning.  Stu  In 2014 I continue have an attachment  for women - just when I think this attachment is lessening some woman walks by and I notice her...
