Hmmm... I've been looking for info on the Rocky Canyon Campground and found this:

http://publiclands.org/explore/site.php?id=202

Quote
Heavy rains and flooding caused significant damage to a section of Forest Road (FR) 150, also known as the North Star Mesa Road, at Rocky Canyon in August 2010. The road was only passable with high-clearance and four-wheeled drive vehicles thereafter. Vehicles pulling trailers are strongly not recommended. Rocky Canyon Campground is inaccessible due to downed logs, debris and large ruts blocking entrance to the campground.

And, no water...?

Have you been there recently, Stu?

Hi,  I visited Rocky Canyon in June 2012 - no problems getting there.  In as much as the Gila National Forest offices are closed on weekends, I called, I will call them again on Monday.  Stu

Thanks for getting back to me, Stu.  Sounds like our 2007 Subaru Outback will be able to negotiate the road.  We'll be coming in from I-25 south of Truth and Consequences -- looking forward to finally meeting you.

Excellent news!  We leave tomorrow for Ft. Garland, CO, then onward to the campsite later in the week -- see you soon!

Thanks, Stu, for checking on the road and site.  Just out of curiosity some people have asked whether there is cell phone access at or near the campsite.  So, would you happen to know?

Good news Michael and Karen, I am looking forward to meditating with the two of you once again.

Part of the way up FR 150 has cell phone coverage, but Rocky Canyon does not.
