Richard Gombrich's What the Buddha Thought
« on: July 26, 2013, 02:53:52 PM »
I found Richard Gombrich's book on his view of the suttas to do a particularly good job of highlighting the difficulties in translating a holy text.  While I do not agree with some of his viewpoints, I found that I gained a better understanding of why there are so many different interpretations of the suttas/and perhaps other holy texts as well.

Thank-you for the link, PJ.  I have downloaded the PDF and plan to read it to see what I can gain from it.
