Hi, I find Karen's mention the the black to be very interesting, I have not heard
about it before. About 4 or 5 years ago I had started to experience what looked like black clouds lower in my field of vision, (that is when I had my eyes closed and could only see black anyway).

But the black started getting bigger and sometimes suddenly shows up as liquid black that can be startling, sometimes what look like tiny white lines will show up latter as well.

Thanks, Valdy for your reply.  I am not sure what the block clouds might be for you. 

The black I was speaking of is a sudden, shocking jolt of blackness that is complete.  It occurs for some people at the transitions between the material domain and the immaterial domain, or in other words, between the 4th jhana and the 5th samadhi.  It is the transition out-of-body.  Generally the black is replaced by experiences on the immaterial domains, which are also called the Astrol Plane, or heaven, deva realm, deva loca, etc.

I googled jhana on youtube and this channel was the first video!

Of course I watched it. I had seen it before, but once again, super-helpful.

I recall getting the exact time that one should meditate for to reach each jhana was very helpful to me in the past.
